I’ve decided running any amount of distance on a treadmill is next to impossible for me. By mile 2 or 3 I’m totally bored. Out. Of. My. Mind.
After an entire night and morning spent up and down up and down with a nasty belly ache, I thought I’d have to miss my run today. And we did have to reschedule the Rosebud Reindeer Run until Christmas day due to my
upset raging stomach and my sister’s work schedule. But, by this afternoon I was feeling pretty good. Belly felt almost back to normal. So, I decided to head to the gym for a run on the treadmill. (Even though my belly was feeling better, I didn’t want to stray too far from a bathroom, so an outdoor run was out of the question.)
My plan was to do five miles. But by one mile in, I knew that wasn’t going to happen. I was just not into my run — so bored. So, I switched it up and did some speed intervals followed by a little bit of hill runs. The treadmill is great for these things because of the built-in timer that I don’t have to take off my gloves to see. But for normal runs, it just won’t do for me anymore. For my run runs, I’d much rather be outside — feeling the wind in my hair.
